Born and raised in Mexico City, DF, I’m Memo Ortega, a photographer whose work blends urban culture, Chicano influences, and the spirit of California’s streets. A passionate photographer since 2003, my mission is to make every shot legendary. My images are not just pictures; they are timeless moments captured in time, spanning multiple forms of art from photography and design to web content and fashion.
One of my major projects, Drive By has gained worldwide recognition, becoming a signature piece of my work. It showcases my unique ability to capture raw energy and cultural depth, with every image telling a powerful story.
Living in Los Angeles, I’ve immersed myself in the lowrider lifestyle, the tattoo industry, and the surrounding subcultures, all of which have played a major role in shaping my photography. My work has become iconic within these spaces, as my images have found a natural home in tattoo shops, on car hoods, and in the streets, embodying the bold, raw energy of these lifestyles. From ink to chrome, my photography captures the essence of the communities that fuel these cultures.
What makes my photography stand out is the way I deliver it across different forms of art. I don’t just capture moments; I transform them into dynamic visual experiences that work across digital design, social media, and even clothing collections. Every image is an extension of the culture itself, and I’m honored that my work has become a part of it—thanks to the culture that shows love and respect worldwide.
Photography has always been my way of life. It’s what drives me to capture the things that others might miss and keeps me motivated every day. I want my audience to feel the energy, emotion, and narrative behind every shot and for them to understand that these images are more than just pictures—they’re a part of something much bigger.
